No love lost for Valentine's Day Civic brawl
Champions Stephen Ormond and Terry Flanagan vow it will be a Valentine's Day Massacre when they decide the next contender to the WBO world lightweight title.
There will be no love lost come the night of February 14 at Wolverhampton Civic Hall when the two bitter rivals settle their score,
BoxNation viewers will look on as Ormond finally puts up his WBO European belt against British boss Flanagan, who defeated Walsall's Martin Gethin to claim the Lonsdale belt last year.
The fight was originally supposed to take place in Sheffield last month, but Ormond pulled out with a viral infection. Ricky Burns' conqueror Terence Crawford holds the full WBO crown.
And both men insist they will hammer the other into submission, with Ormond saying: "I am the champion and I'll be leaving the champion.
"I'll have too much for him in every department. I can't wait to get it on, the only thing his lips will be kissing that day is my fists."
Flanagan retorted: "This fight won't be for the faint of heart, I am going all out to take Ormond apart.
"I'll never shy away from a challenge. There'll be no love hearts in my eyes when I'm facing him, just targets set on his chin."
Birmingham's Tommy Langford provides chief support in a 10-round contest, which will likely be for a title in what will be the undefeated middleweight's 12th pro contest.
A total of five six-rounders supplement a trio of four-round contests on the rest of the bill, which features Tipton's Ricky Summers and Walsall's Daniel Breeze.
Summers claimed International Masters light heavyweight honours in his last bout and might finally get his hands on Mitch Mitchell, who he has been matched with several times.
Exciting Brummie lightweight Joe Costello will cast envious glances at the main event when he takes in his first six threes, after halting two out of three opponents.
Redditch's Andrew Robinson, a former stable-mate of Summers' at Lions Boxing Club in Dudley, returns from his points loss to Frank Buglioni for the WBO European super middleweight title.
'Robbo' is scheduled to go the same distance as Summers, as is Welsh super bantamweight Jay Harris. Aptly-named super feather Romeo Romaeo, on Valentine's Night, completes the six-round set.
Welterweight Breeze is still looking for his first stoppage, but has encountered little trouble over his previous three contests and is yet to drop a round.
'The Hurricane' is again in four-round action as is Corby cruiserweight Simon Barclay, who completes the card going for the fifth victory of his time in the paid ranks. Brummie flyweight Raza Hamza debuts.
