Frustrated Lennox Clarke is ready to return
Halesowen's Lennox Clarke today vowed to take his injury frustrations out on Raimonds Sneidze when he returns to action in Gloucester next week.
The unbeaten super middleweight was forced to pull out of a tasty encounter with Lincoln's Ryan Clark last month on the eve of the contest,
It was only a back niggle but Clarke wouldn't take the risk unless he was at full pelt, so the bout was rescheduled for next Friday's fight night at the Hatherley Manor Hotel.
Clark has since been replaced by the Latvian but wouldn't have been able to box anyway, having broken his jaw fighting in London last weekend.
They may yet meet again down the line for a grudge match and, in the meantime, Clarke is determined to make up for lost ground.
The 23-year-old is looking to smash through Sneidze before he competes again at Walsall Town Hall on Saturday November 29, and two victories would take him to half-a-dozen wins.
He said: "I hate picking up little niggles, but it's the game. It's just one of those things. I was feeling great and was just doing a bit of last minute pads when I tweaked my back.
"It was frustrating for everyone - me, Ryan Clark and the rest of the team. It happens, though, and you've got to be 100 per cent if you're going to get in the ring.
"It's annoying after working so hard and getting ready for a fight but I've been lucky that Errol Johnson, my manager, has been able to get me back out so soon.
"I don't know much about Sneidze but, after the last couple of weeks of camp, I know he's in for a hard night. It's been a frustrating few weeks, but I'm going to take all my frustration out on him!"
Clarke has been helping Tewkesbury's Adam Harper, who debuts at light middleweight on the bill, prepare to take on another Sneidze - Raimonds' brother Edgars.
He said: "We have both been pushing each other on. It's going to be a good night of boxing and I just can't wait to get back in that ring now.
"Adam is facing the brother of the lad I'm fighting, so we are both ready to do a job on them."
