Jamie Gelder wants the scalp of a champion
Dudley's Jamie Gelder today targeted knocking a champion off his perch as he prepares for more ring action at Bedworth Town Hall.
'Danger' will step through the ropes with Warwick's Mike Byles, who claimed the British Masters Silver middleweight title earlier this month.
Byles is the home fighter and has a rematch with Ben Davies for an upgraded Masters belt over 10 rounds in the offing for the end of November.
But road warrior Gelder has little regard for those plans and insists he will try and stop 'Mighty Mike' in his tracks come the later of the four rounds on Saturday night.
He said: "I know Mike is a strong, come forward fighter who has won a belt on and sells a lot of tickets, but nothing bothers me.
"I will box him and then look for a late stoppage, which I know I am capable of doing. I am the road warrior and I'm coming to Bedworth to cause an upset, like I always do."
The 22-year-old is still unbeaten after two professional contests and dropped to middleweight to outpoint Alfie Little in London 12 days ago, where he will campaign from now on.
He hopes his 'have gloves, will travel' attitude will lead to a title shot down the line, saying: "I want to be in the ring every week.
"If I take on the best out there and cause lots of upsets then, hopefully, one day I will get the phone-call to fight a ticket seller for a belt.
"I will get in and fight the best, short notice or not. I never back down and will fight anyone."
