Duo delighted as Chisora-Fury bill goes ahead
Walsall's Martin Gethin and Rowley Regis' Jason Welborn still box for British titles on Saturday night - despite Dereck Chisora pulling out of the main event.
Chisora was supposed to be defending his European heavyweight title against Tyson Fury, but has suffered a fractured hand in sparring.
The contest was also a final eliminator for the WBO world crown, but will be rescheduled with a new date to be announced shortly.
The show goes on at the Manchester Arena. Billy Joe Saunders now headlines with Emanuele Blandamura for the vacant European middleweight title.
Gethin and Welborn will get second chances at the Lonsdale belt on the card, both coming in to replace opponents after withdrawals from Derry Mathews and Navid Mansouri respectively.
Big-hitter Welborn, thwarted in his previous effort by Frankie Gavin at welterweight in January 2013, steps up to light middle to face champion Liam Smith.
Gethin gets an immediate chance to reclaim the British lightweight title on the card, competing against Terry Flanagan for the belt after Matthews vacated.
