Sam Eggington is ready for his second chance

Stourbridge's Sam Eggington will look to seize his second chance in Prizefighter as he believes he's a better fighter now than the first time around.

Eggington became the youngest-ever Prizefighter in the last instalment at welterweight in January 2013, eclipsing Patrick Mendy by six months.

His journey ended at the first hurdle with a points defeat to Dale Evans at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, but he earned plaudits for a gutsy display.

The 20-year-old has since won the Midlands welterweight title and now gets another shot at the trophy in the fourth welterweight Prizefighter.

He goes up against Johnny Garton at York Hall in London tomorrow night, live on Sky Sports, and could then face former European champion Jason Cook.

But the game Eggington is ready to take on all comers, as he feels he's kicked on since his last display, and is ready to turn on the style in front of the cameras.

He said: "I don't think I did myself any justice in the last Prizefighter. I came in at late notice and purely because I had the chance to.

"For this one, I have come in with plenty of notice and trained hard. I have come here to win this time and last time I just jumped in late notice.

"It will be a good experience to have for this Prizefighter. Not so much the fight, but the day itself, the event. I was fine in the run up but, on the night, it got me.

"I got to the venue and everyone was pointing cameras at you, you see the winches putting the cameras up, and that does get to you a bit.

"I think this time it will blow over and I will be fine with it. I will be aggressive, a bit more clever than last time, I will come forward and put in a lot of work.

"I would love to win the English title and go on to fight for the British. If I do well, I might go on to bigger things."
