Sam Eggington lined up again for Prizefighter

Stourbridge's Sam Eggington has been handed a second appearance in Prizefighter in what will be the fourth instalment at welterweight.

The Midlands champion competed as a late replacement in the third edition at Wolverhampton Civic Hall 13 months ago, live on Sky Sports.

Then just 19, the teenager became the youngest fighter ever to compete in the tournament, eclipsing Patrick Mendy by exactly six months.

He was outpointed in the first phase by Dale Evans but earned plaudits for a gutsy display, which came after just three professional contests.

'The Savage' is now set to return to the format, which is being staged ar London's York Hall on April 5, in what will be the 33rd Prizefighter.

Former British light middleweight title challenger Erick Ochieng, Commonwealth Games gold medallist Paddy Gallagher and Dean Byrne have also been included.
