Inactive Kyle Spencer aims to turn on the style
Kingswinford's Kyle Spencer is hoping to make up for lost time by hitting the ground running in his first fight for 10 months on Saturday March 1.
The undefeated light middleweight has six victories but boxed just once last year, so is hoping his run-out at Walsall Town Hall is the first of many in 2014.
'The Style' has seen a host of contests fall by the wayside still early on in his professional career and admitted it's been hard to handle.
The 23-year-old is desperate to get back into the ring and Exeter's Faheem Khan, a former Masters Bronze title challenger, will provide a test.
He said: "It has been a difficult few months. I thought that it was going to be a good year for me. I was supposed to be out again last July, but that never happened.
"I was on a show in September, which I trained for but it got cancelled. Then I thought I had landed a Bronze Masters shot in November but that got called off, too, so it's been tough.
"I want to put that behind me now though and put the rest of 2014 in front of me. I want to make up for last year. It's great to be on another show.
"It's been difficult to stay focused. From last summer, I had about 15 or 16 weeks in camp, training for fights that fell through. It was frustrating.
"My name hasn't been out there and I haven't been earning from the sport. But, on the flip side, at least I have been in camp for a lot of the time, so my core fitness is still there.
"That's all behind me now. I am in training for March 1 and I'm ready to make it seven out of seven. It's time to kick on now."
Show sponsors Grosvenor Casino will be staging a fun casino on the night, with games like roulette and black jack. All proceeds will benefit the Carers Trust and Amphion Boxing Club.
Tickets, priced at £30 and £60 ringside, are available from the Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900. The after-show party is at the Pitch Sports Bar and Grill on Bridge Street in Walsall.
