Wolverhampton's Des Bowater will be looking to sign off for 2013 with a first stoppage in front of his hometown fans at the Civic Hall on Sunday afternoon.

'The Wednesfield Warrior' takes in his fourth pro contest since turning pro in May, with a super featherweight four-rounder against Swindon's Joe Beeden.

'D Bow' is expecting a stern test against the visitor from Wiltshire having done his homework on his opponent, but is focussed on making a statement by getting the job done early.

He said: "It's good to box in my hometown again, this is my second fight at the Civic and I am looking for my first stoppage.

"I want to walk him down, work the body and tire him out. I have been happy to get the rounds in, because I don't want to come unstuck when I start doing six-rounders.

"I want a couple of them and then up to right-rounders, perhaps for a British Masters bronze belt. I am keeping busy, with four fights in eight months, and I want that to continue that next year."

With a hard bout in mind, Bowater has been working hard as ever in the gym under the watchful eye of his trainer and father, Ken. The unbeaten 22-year-old feels ready for action.

He said: "I am probably in the best shape I have been to date and I will need to be, I have watched this lad on You Tube and he's my toughest test yet.

"He's not powerful, but he's got good movement and will be tricky, so I will have to think a lot more in the fight. It's good, I don't want to come in and have it all my own way.

"I have had tough fights so far and I am excited for this test, too, he's a step up."
