Sam Eggington wins the battle of Stourbridge
Sam Eggington forced a finish against Stourbridge compatriot Kevin McCauley in the seventh round of their title tussle at the Institute in Birmingham.
Eggington piled the pressure on a trapped McCauley in the corner and sliced him open with a right hook, referee Robert Chalmers stepping in to signal the end.
McCauley had battled bravely in adversity after taking some heavy blows from the game 19-year-old, who is the reigning holder of the Midlands welterweight title that was once his.
The British Masters belt was up-for-grabs in this one on Sunday afternoon and Eggington signalled his intent with a big looping right hook that found its target in the second round.
McCauley was hurt by a left hook to the body in the same session but answered back with a right hook that pegged Eggington back in the third, before tagging him back in the fifth.
Eggington worked the body and blasted all the wind out of McCauley with spiteful blows before end was nigh, as McCauley was taken into the trenches in the seventh for the finish.
He was incensed by the referee's decision - feeling he was fine to carry on - but looked cut, hurt and out on his feet to the man in the middle. He stormed of the ring after the decision.
Elsewhere on the card, Coseley's Ryan Corrigan picked up a useful victory at super featherweight against tough Syrian Youssef Al Hamidi, the visitor based at Dewsbury in Yorkshire.
The 22-year-old dropped just a share of a round and use his jab to fend off Al Hamidi, currying favour with referee Shaun Messer enough to record an emphatic 40-36 points success.
