Steven Pearce v Sam Eggington for Midlands
Stourbridge will be represented on both sides of the ring when Steven Pearce defends the Midland welterweight title against Sam Eggington on Friday May 3.
Pearce will put up his newly-won belt against the fellow Prizefighter combatant at Dudley's the Venue, after Joel Ryan was scrubbed from the line-up.
Walsall's Ryan has twice withdrew from an area title bout and his actions have opened the door for both fighters, most profitably for Pearce earlier this month.
'Fierce Pearce' stepped in to challenge Derby's Luke Gallear for the vacant crown at four days notice and stopped him in five rounds at the Town Hall in Burton.
Eggington boxed his last bout at the Institute in Birmingham just five days earlier and the 19-year-old scored his first knockout over Vaclav Skromach in round two.
Both Pearce and Eggington were involved when Prizefighter returned to Wolverhampton Civic Hall in January went out at the first hurdle, in differing circumstances.
Pearce cried foul and alleged he was struck by an illegal punch in a second round defeat to winner Glenn Foot, while Eggington went the distance with finalist Dale Evans.
Now they will face each other in a short trip to Dudley for a home show and promoter Errol Johnson believes the contest could surpass anything to come in 2013.
Johnson said: "Pearce versus Eggington has all the ingredients of a Fight of the Year contender. They are both come-forward-fighters who enjoy a tear-up.
"They are both from Stourbridge, so there's local pride at stake, too. The fact that there's a title up for grabs too means it's going to be a great night of boxing."
Four Dudley-based fighters appear on the under-card and Cradley's Chris Male is set to appear after having second thoughts over his retirement from the ring.
The punching postman hung his gloves only last month but is now in training for a swift comeback, as he looks to revive his ailing career in the featherweight ranks.
Male lost an English title shot on points at the Venue in November and Dudley's Dean Anderson will also be looking to put similar disappointment behind him on the bill.
'Deano' retired on his stool after eight rounds with Gavin McDonnell for the British Masters super bantamweight belt in December but is going back up to featherweight.
Dudley lightweight Rizwan Rasool joins him after two straight wins since turning pro last March - his first competitive fights since his last amateur bout over a decade previously.
Brierley Hill's Kyle Spencer will be looking to make a name for himself elsewhere on the show. 'The Style', a light middleweight, scored a stunning first round knockout last month.
Completing the card is West Bromwich's Adam Corbett, a light heavyweight looking to bounce back from his first pro defeat, and unbeaten super middleweight Andrew Robinson.
Tickets are priced at £30 for unreserved seating and £60 at ringside, which includes a three-course meal. They are available from the Venue Box Office on 01384 453 101.
