Walsall another 'home' fight for Dave Egan
Cannock's Dave Egan is hoping to make Walsall Town Hall a home from home as he boxes again at the venue on a televised bill.
Egan made his professional debut at the same venue last May, where he outpointed Matt Seawright in front of 200 of his own supporters.
Now the former Chasetown semi-professional footballer is back at the Town Hall to face Ricky Stock next Friday night, live on BoxNation.
Egan and his fans will make the short trip from Cannock and Egan knows the town well, having boxed for Walsall Wood ABC as an amateur.
The 29-year-old welterweight will also see the British title contested in his 10st class between Frankie Gavin and Jason Welborn at the top of the bill.
And he said: "It's going to be some night. It's easily the biggest show I have been involved in. It's a massive show.
"Walsall is probably the most local town to me being from Cannock, so I just can't wait.
"To be on this undercard in only my fourth professional fight is brilliant."
Since his pro bow, Egan has seen off Danny Dontchev and Jerome Samuels over the distance but a first stoppage win continues to elude him.
Only Samuels seemed interested in fighting rather than surviving and Egan wants to see a better class of opponent in the other corner this time.
He said: " I need to test myself against good opposition.I would rather lose a fight than just be in against boxers who I am able to beat up every round.
"I'm taking each fight as it comes and hope to be in a competitive fight this time. The plan is to keep learning and progressing.
"It would be great to fight for a Midlands or Masters title this year and then push on from there."
