Matchroom Boxing's eight-man, one-night, three-rounds-a-fight tournament returns for a second time on Saturday January 19, this time at welterweight.

And 'Fierce' Pearce will become the latest entrant along with Birmingham's Nasser Al Harbi, Dale Evans, Glenn Foot, Chad Gaynor and Karl Place.

Mark Thompson is set to be named Prizefighter No 7, leaving one spot open in the competition at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, which will be live on Sky Sports.

Undefeated Pearce hasn't even boxed on television before but the 28-year-old believes he has what it takes to become a star overnight in front of the cameras.

He said: "I wasn't going to go in it, at first, I am an unbeaten fighter and I wondered if it was worth the risk, but it's more of an opportunity.

"Now I have started believing in myself, I am not looking back, I know I have the style that suits the pros and Prizefighter, as well.

"Boxing so close to home just takes it off the scale, it's another reason why I couldn't pass it up. This chance might never come again.

"When you go for broke, anything can happen, I have always been a fast starter and that's why I have been encouraged to go in this.

"I can't wait, I am so excited and they know I am a strong, come forward fighter, there's no way I am going to take a step backwards.

"It's going to be a knock out or get knocked out competition."

Pearce will be training all over the festive season to get himself ready for fight night and will even be hitting the road on Christmas Day.

He said: "I am a natural welter so I am always around and about that weight so I should still be able to have a dinner with my family.

"But I will be running on Christmas Day, definitely, I am going to be training and training so there will be no partying for me!

"My New Year celebrations will come at the end of January, hopefully as the Prizefighter champion."

"They have picked brawlers to go in there and knock 10 bells out of each other
