Deano vows to put on a show

Dudley's Dean Anderson today vowed to "put on a show" as he looks to upset the twin brother of IBF world title contender Jamie McDonnell.

'Deano' boxes for his first title, the British Masters super bantamweight belt, against hometown favourite Gavin at the Doncaster Dome on Saturday night.

European and former British champion Jamie is the No 1 contender to the IBF bantamweight crown, but Gavin has also proved himself an area title holder this year.

Anderson wants to leave both red-faced by taking the belt to the Black Country after the 10-rounder and, as a natural featherweight, needed time to slim down.

With two months notice, a hard training camp has left the 25-year-old feeling super fit and Anderson's reputation as a crowd-pleaser was what got him the call.

All of his five professional c0ntests have been entertaining brawls and - with five wins, three stoppages and just one loss and draw on his record - he's got form.

Anderson said: "Making the weight has been the hardest, I haven't boxed at super bantam since I was an amateur and I was only 17 then!

"But I have really lived the boxing life in the last couple of months, it's probably the hardest I have ever trained for a fight.

"He's got a good pedigree, what with his brother and all, he's a good technical boxer who is good on his feet. It will be difficult.

"I am not going in there for a tear up, I will see what he has got first, I will box him if I can but I might have to turn it into a fight.

"It's his home show so he will try and take me out but the crowd only pushes me more and I don't think I have lost any of my power.

"I will put on a show and, if he beats me, he's the better man, but I am not going up there to lose. I want that belt."
