Grant Cunningham lines up next fight

Stafford's Grant Cunningham already has his next fight date in hand after picking up his sixth straight win in Burton-on-Trent.

Cunningham will be looking for his seventh heaven at Walsall Town Hall - where four of his victories have taken place - on Saturday November 24.

The unbeaten middleweight from Moss Pit, one of only two pro boxers from the town, dominated Dan Blackwell in his latest outing last Friday night.

Blackwell, from Trowbridge in Wiltshire, is the younger brother of former English champion and soon-to-be two-time British title challenger Nick.

Both Blackwells are tough competitors and Cunningham's trainer Errol Johnson feared his man would be dragged into a brawl at Burton Town Hall.

But, from the opening bell, Cunningham controlled the action behind a fast, solid jab and knocked Blackwell onto his heels with a left hook in the first round.

Cunningham stayed in charge, putting his punches together well in the second and bloodying Blackwell's nose just before the bell to end the third.

Blood gushed from Blackwell after the unloading of those heavy right hands but Cunningham resisted the urge to go hell for leather in the last round.

With an over-the-distance victory in the bag, Cunningham got behind his jab in the fourth and referee Robert Chalmers awarded him every session.
