Dudley's Ryan Aston will start to put his career back together with a six-round contest on the undercard of Carl Froch's next world title fight on November 17.

Aston has been told he is on the undercard of Matchroom's big bill at the Nottingham Arena, where Froch defends IBF super middleweight crown.

It's where Froch took the belt from Canadian Lucian Bute in May and Aston stopped Paul Samuels in five rounds, but woe was to betide him next.

The 21-year-old then landed a shot at the vacant Midlands title against Nottingham's Curtis Valentine at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.

But puncher Valentine upset the apple cart and showed his power to end the fight in two rounds, Aston's trainer Paul Gough throwing the towel in.

'Tank' wants to make amends and his presence on the show indicates he is still in favour at Matchroom, who have him signed to a promotional deal.

Valentine was meant to be the first step to the national stage and that is on hold for now but, at a young age, Aston has time to turn the tables.

Proving it was a one-off will be his aim - Aston had given seven opponents nothing previously and halted three of his last four, two in the first round.

His name had been talked about in the same breath as Chris Eubank Jnr and Billy-Joe Saunders as the future prospects coming up in the division.

Big moments had come from his first week as a pro - boxing on the undercard of David Haye's multi-world title tussle with Wladimir Klitschko.

Now, having come back refreshed from a summer break, Aston has his next assignment and will look to prove his resilience as well as his potential.
