Cannock's Dave Egan believes his next fight will be like a home from home after landing a spot on a bill to take place at a new venue in Birmingham.

The 29-year-old is on the card on Saturday September 8 at the HMV Institute - formerly Digbeth Civic Hall - promoted by Clifton Mitchell.

Egan's manager Jon Pegg, who trains him at his gym in Birmingham, is match-maker for the show and is looking for a decent test for his fighter.

The ex-Chasetown footballer debuted with a points win over Matt Seawright in May, before shutting out Danny Dontchev the same way in June.

But Egan, himself, was miffed that his opponents had come to survive and spoil, negating his own skills as they laboured to the finish.

And the popular welterweight, who sold over 200 fans for his last fight, wants a game adversary this time that will give as good as he gets.

He said: "It's like a home show for me, all of the lads from our gym are boxing on the bill and I am looking forward to it.

"Hopefully, I will get someone who wants to come and have a scrap and it will make it a bit more exciting for people.

"People will start to get bored if I am not in exciting fights."

Egan insists he's happy to roll with the punches and take the risks with a live opponent, including having his "chin tested."

The former Walsall Wood ABC amateur and ABA Novice Midlands champion declared it's "pointless" to take it easy.

He said: "No-one has seen what I can do yet, but I think I am going to prove myself as a boxer who can dig a bit.

"I haven't been caught yet, either, so it's possible I could take a big shot without a headguard on and crumble.

"I want to have my chin tested, in the fights to come, with these bangers who can punch hard.

"When they put one on me and I am still standing there and coming on strong, it would give me confidence.

"That's when I would need to grit my teeth and get through it and that's how I would learn.

"It's pointless me doing it for a bit of a laugh."
