Cannock's Dave Egan today vowed to prove he's more than just a ticket seller when he boxes on the bill at Wolverhampton Civic Hall next Friday night.

The former Chasetown footballer was cheered on by over 180 supporters when he outpointed Matt Seawright on his pro debut last month.

But the 28-year-old was less than pleased with his maiden fight at Walsall Town Hall and the spoiling tactics of Seawright, who rarely got involved.

Egan was relived to get the contest over and done with but is now looking to step it up at the Civic having, again, sold the best part of 200 tickets.

The former Walsall Wood ABC amateur, who won a Midlands title in the ABA Novices last year, believes he now knows what to expect.

Welsh visitor Ray Akhtar is next up in the welterweight ranks and Egan will be looking to put on a better show for his fans.

He said: "I feel 10 times better than my first fight, I am learning so much in every session and I feel much fitter, sharper and stronger.

"Everything is alien to you when you make your debut, you take the headguard off and it's all a bit weird to begin with!

"With all the nerves, as well, you have got to get used to it but there's no problem with that now, I know that.

"I will be looking to stay in the danger zone a bit more this time, last time I was jumping in and out too much.

"This time, I will take the risk of staying in there so I can let my own shots go a bit more."

Egan is looking to use his big following to his advantage by relaxing and shifting all of the pressure onto his opponent.

He said: "In my first fight, it did spur me on but it kind of goes over your head a bit because everything happens so fast.

"This time, I hope to have 200 people singing my name and I will be coming into the ring with a smile on my face, so I can soak it all in.

"You never know how many of these fights you are going to get."
