Defiant - Rob Hunt's been around eight years without winning a title but is adamant, one day, he will become a champion.

Stafford's Rob Hunt was today set to pull out of his next fight after the show was switched from Saturday night to the end of the month.

Problems with receiving the boxers' licences in time - some four fighters make their professional debuts on the bill - has led to the delay.

The show is now due to take place at Burslem's Queen Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent on June 29, two days after Hunt is back from a holiday in Greece.

It was booked for his cousin's wedding while his fight was set for the original date and he will still be attending, having also been ill recently.

A bout of sinusitis has hampered the 26-year-old's training over the past week but he was planning to box as scheduled on Saturday night.

However, competing at the end of the month would pose problems to his camp, leaving him out of the gym in the week leading up to fight night.

With opponent Sid Razak's reputation for upsetting the apple cart, Hunt today admitted it's a risk he's unlikely to take.

He said: "It's not my fault and I am fit enough to fight, I need to get in there regularly, it's not a big setback but I am not as busy as I wanted to be.

"I hope to be out again in July and I want at least three fights before the end of the year, I did 100 plus tickets for Saturday so the buzz is still there.

"I would even box away from home, if it's a 50-50 fight that I have got a chance of winning."

Before his most recent setbacks, Hunt had switched his preparations to concentrating on foot-work as a main feature of his approach.

It also appears that the 18-fight pro, who has 15 wins on his record, will be staying at welterweight after previously boxing at light welter.

Saturday's switch leaves him kicking his heels for the time being but Hunt insists his progress won't be lost.

He said: "In sparring, I have been trying a lot of new things and I feel really fit and sharp. I am using my feet and brain more than ever.

"The punches just flow when I do that and I feel I haven't used foot-work as well as I should, I am just going to put it all together now.

"I have always had speed and I am a strong lad, punching power wise, I have just got to use my feet a bit more.

"I am not going to lose that because I am not boxing on Saturday, I will just keep concentrating on it."
