Dudley's Ryan Aston today vowed to beat Paul Samuels to the punch when the two heavy hitters square up on the undercard of Carl Froch's world title fight.

Before Froch attempts to wrest the IBF super middleweight title away from champion Lucian Bute, sparring partner Aston takes in a six-rounder.

All of the fighters weighed in at the Nottingham Arena today ahead of the big show on Sky Sports tomorrow night and Aston could face a test.

Samuels may be 39 but the Welsh veteran is a puncher and was one half of the famous 'double knockdown' with Cello Renda on Sky Sports in 2009.

But Aston, himself, boasts power and has two first round stoppages from six fights since turning pro, currently a undefeated prospect at middleweight.

And 'Tank' is keen to see if Samuels - stopped early in his last two outings - can still take it as well as give it out when the two step through the ropes.

The 21-year-old said: "It's a step up for me and that's something good, he will come to fight and that's what I want.

"He's the heaviest puncher I have ever been in there as a pro, he's knocked quite a few out.

"He's got the credentials and he's a good, all round fighter, that's why I have trained so hard.

"But if he comes forward trying to throw bombs, he will get caught with quite a few shots.

"They will be quite heavy, as well and, if he gets tagged, it comes to how much he can take it now.

"His endurance may slow down after a couple of rounds and slowing him down may cause a stoppage."
