Amateur stars to turn pro at the Civic
Amateur stars Ricky Summers and Andrew Robinson will make their professional debuts on the BoxNation bill at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on June 22.
Amateur stars Ricky Summers and Andrew Robinson will make their professional debuts on the BoxNation bill at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on June 22.
Boxing for Lions ABC in Dudley, Summers was a semi-finalist in the senior ABAs while Robinson twice reached the last four of the ABA Novices.
Tipton's Summers, 24, will be fighting at light heavyweight while 27-year-old Robinson, who lives in Birmingham, competes at middleweight.
The two will be joined on the bill by Birmingham's Thomas Costello, who has decided to pick up some ring time and hunt the domestic belts.
Another light middleweight prospect, Coseley's Jamie Ball, will engage in another battle where someone's '0' will go as he looks to make a statement.
His English title eliminator against Birmingham's Nasser Al Harbi in March finished as a technical draw in the fourth round, after Al Harbi was cut.
Both remained undefeated but didn't pick up the breakthrough win they were looking for so Ball will risk it all again in another 10-round contest.
In the other corner will be unbeaten Czech Republic and Slovakian national champion Michal Pechacek, 22, who has 10 straight wins on his record.
Also added to the bill is Northampton's Nathan Reeve, who competed in the super flyweight Prizefighter last year, but two are off the show.
The personal issues that ruled Tipton's Lee Glover off this month's Walsall Town Hall card have not cleared in time for him to resume training.
Tom Shaw, the light welterweight from Burton, has pulled out to pursue another and, as yet, unspecified fight at a later date.
The main event is the rematch to the controversial British title contest between former champion Shane McPhilbin and Enzo Maccarinelli.
Chief support is for the Midlands welterweight crown as Dudley's Jason Welborn defends against Derby's former English champion Scott Haywood.
Stafford's Grant Cunningham, Stourbridge's Steven Pearce, Cannock's Dave Egan and Leicester's Ryan Hookway complete the line-up.
