Walsall's Christopher Keane believes he can get to the top quickly as he prepares to get more rounds in the bank with a hometown showdown.

The undefeated prospect will take in a six-rounder against Bulgarian cruiserweight Tzvetan Trashlev at Walsall Town Hall next Saturday night.

It's his second fight in less than two months and just his sixth despite turning pro in September 2009, having not boxed at all in 2011.

Keane is eager to make up for lost time in front of his home crowd, having blown off the cobwebs with a points win over Remigijus Ziausys in March.

And the 26-year-old insists it won't take him long to climb up the ladder, having claimed a senior ABA title after just 16 fights in 2009.

His last amateur bout was boxing for England later that year and Keane wants to be rubbing shoulders with the best in the country again.

He said: "It's nice to box in my hometown, there will be loads of people there that I know there and cheering me on!

"I know this guy is a southpaw, that's about it, but my last fight has blown off the cobwebs and I feel pretty sharp.

"I just want to keep getting out now, everything is about waiting in the pros and it has been frustrating.

"I will turn up and fight anybody, nobody bothers me, all the others have on me is a bit of experience."

Keane came across Shane McPhilbin in the amateurs, before McPhilbin won and lost the British cruiserweight title as a pro.

The two were sparring partners for when McPhiblin took the belt in January, before Enzo Maccarinelli ended his reign in April.

Due to the controversy of the contest, when the bell sounded early to end the first round, the rematch will take place in June.

Keane boxed on the undercard of the first fight at Wolverhampton Civic Hall and recalls handling McPhilbin in the ring.

He said: "When I boxed McPhilbin in the amateurs, I had walked into the gym that week and told them I was ready to fight.

"They asked me if I fancied into the ABAs and I went into the fight with no training, no running, nothing.

"I got tennis elbow during the fight because I got my arm stuck in the ropes, so I couldn't throw my right hand.

"He nicked me on points."

Tickets are available from Walsall Town Hall or by calling the box office on 0845 111 2900.
