Dudley's Dean Anderson today vowed to add substance to style when he returns on the BoxNation televised bill at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

The 24-year-old has been out of action for 15 months, after losing his undefeated record inside his first three fights to Birmingham's Sid Razak.

Now Anderson is back with a four-round featherweight bout against 'Rockin' Robin Deakin on Friday night, looking to get his career back on track.

'Deano' was initially matched with 'Marvellous' Marvin Campbell, who pulled out yesterday morning due to illness with Deakin stepping in.

And Anderson has vowed to show the late replacement what he has been working on in the gym during his time on the sidelines.

He said: "I have been training like a trooper, it's been frustrating and I need to get the ring rust out of me, so I could do with this fight.

"But, in another way, I have learned a lot more in the gym, I have learned to relax and take my time a bit more.

"I always want to be an exciting fighter but I have come on, I feel better as a boxer. I will let my opponents come on to me a bit more now.

"I want to go the distance but, if I can finish him, I will get it done quickly."

Anderson lasted less than two rounds with Razak, a wily but capable journeyman who beat another prospect, Joe Tonks, in his next fight.

A stiff right uppercut from Razak wobbled Anderson when they met, with the Black Country fighter eventually stopped on his feet.

He said: "I know full well I can beat Sid Razak but I wasn''t concentrating. I wish I had taken the knockdown, I wasn't grabbing or anything.

"It's done me the world of good, actually, it's made me realise I can't go rushing in so much."

The first bout is set to take place at 6:45pm on Friday night and the BoxNation cameras will roll until, at least, 11pm.

A limited number of tickets will also be available on the doors on the night, which open at 6pm.
