Walsall's Martin Gethin will box at Wolverhampton Civic Hall next Friday night as planned despite picking up a swollen eye in his last fight.

Gethin's left eye was almost closed after he picked up an International Masters title with a points win over Ivan Godor last Friday night.

But, five days later, the two-time English lightweight champion has been cleared to box his scheduled six-rounder, live on BoxNation.

The 28-year-old, who is chasing British champion Anthony Crolla, is on the undercard of the first British title fight in nearly four years at the Civic.

Shane McPhilbin will put his cruiserweight belt up-for-grabs for the first time against former WBO world and European champion Enzo Maccarinelli.
