Chris Truman to wipe out Lenny Daws
Aston's Chris Truman insists he is capable of taking former British champion Lenny Daws to the cleaners when the two clash in a eight-rounder.
Aston's Chris Truman insists he is capable of taking former British champion Lenny Daws to the cleaners when the two clash in a eight-rounder.
The boxing window cleaner and the 33-year-old two-time holder of the British title will meet in the front of the Channel Five cameras tonight.
And Truman should be fresh after a week's rest from work with his dad, Gerry, taking on his round in Solihull and Sutton Coldfield.
'The Trumanator' has now vowed to go hell for leather and inflict the pane game on 'Lightning Lenny' in a plan to shut him out.
The 27-year-old wants to climb the ladder at the expense of his opponent and get his own streak started in the light welterweight division.
Daws is the hot favourite and wants to move on to a British title eliminator against Prizefighter winner Adil Anwar, but Truman has other ideas.
He said: "Lenny's getting on a bit now and a lot of people are telling me he's beatable these days.
"I have also heard that he struggles at the weight, this fight is going to be at 10st 2lb.
"I can make that comfortably and I know he's probably going to find that a bit harder than me.
"But I know there's no way he's going to tire, I have got to box a cute fight and use my brain.
"I won't go toe-to-toe with him, open up and go all out in the first round, my head is on this fight.
"I am used to boxing people of his height and I stay low, so he's got to punch low and leave himself open.
"I know he throws a lot of shots but, if I can make him miss and counter, I have got a chance."
Truman is still set to challenge Dave Ryan for the Midlands title in Burton on March 31, regardless of the outcome of tonight.
But a stoppage loss, depending on the severity, would land him either a 30 or 45 day ban from the British Boxing Board of Control.
