Dudley's Zak The Ripper has vowed to "do the business" after being added to the card at Walsall Town Hall.

'The Ripper' - real name Saquib Amir- will face Latvian Pavels Senkovs in an additional bout on Friday night, serving under the chief support fight and main event.

The former unlicensed boxing star has been brought in at short notice after Brierley Hill's Karl Spencer and Stourbridge's Steven Pearce, both from Shaun Cooper's gym in Dudley, pulled out.

And 'the Ripper' has a point to prove after suffering his first defeat in just his second fight as a pro, losing to Dan Naylor on points after six rounds.

The 28-year-old is desperate to get back in the ring and avenge that defeat, but wasn't due to fight until a bout in Northampton next week.

Now the boxing bricklayer will feature on a home show, where Tividale's Jason Welborn will face Sean McKervey for the Midlands welterweight title and Walsall's Martin Gethin returns after 19 months out.

A split with trainer Andy Flute will also see Errol Johnson in the corner of 'the Ripper' and the featherweight is looking to make a statement.

He said: "I wanted to fight again before Christmas and I will fight anyone. I got robbed last time, it was close but I thought I had it by a point or two.

"But I am not going to moan, I fell short with my punches and paid the price.

"It's knocked me back a bit, I had a couple of weeks off after the fight but, since I have come back, I have been training harder.

"I shall do the business this time, it's a learning curve and I have got stacks to learn."

Tickets are available from Walsall Town Hall by calling 0845 111 2900 or by contacting promoter Paul 'PJ' Rowson on 07976 283 157.
