Castlefields win, but stay in trouble
Castlefields remain in the thick of a relegation battle in Division One of the Summit Garage League despite picking up a crucial victory.
The Shrewsbury-based club overcame Moseley 5-3 in a tight encounter on Saturday, but followed that up with a heavy 7-1 defeat at leaders Royal Oak on Monday.
Callum Wraight led the way for Castlefields in Saturday’s triumph with a 21-5 defeat of Gavin Dunkley.
He was well supported by Keith Wall, who dispatched Ron Regan 21-7, and Martin Cood, who overcame Bill Kinchin 21-11.
The rest of the games were much tighter, with Andy Duckett (21-17) and Keith Walton (21-16) getting them over the line.
In Monday’s loss, Adrian Rowe was the Shropshire side’s only winner.
St Georges remain entrenched in mid-table in the Premier Division after suffering a home defeat to Willenhall Nordley A.
Lewis Scott and Peter Grimston secured St Georges’ best results.
Wrockwardine Wood are third in Division Two after Aaron King, Louise Cotton, Joshua Cotton, Tony Garmson, John Clarke and Martin Williams guided them to a 6-2 triumph over Baldwin.
