His second spell in charge began with a defeat to Middlesbrough, before a resounding 5-1 home battering of Portsmouth.

Credible results at home against the likes of Oxford United and the dramatic late win over Sheffield Wednesday followed, with draws at Burnley and Leeds thrown in.

Their have been disappointing defeats against the likes of Plymouth and Norwich.

Out of a possible 36 points, Albion have been picked up 16 points during his time in charge. But how does it compare to his first 12 games during his first spell in charge at Albion?

Back in 2006, Mowbray's reign got off to he best possible start with goals from Jonathan Greening, Diomansy Kamara and John Hartson giving him a 3-0 home win against rivals Wolves.

But the goodwill from that result soon began to wear off.

Albion would go on to lose at Birmingham City, the first of five defeats in the next seven games.

Among that seven game run, they picked up a 3-0 win at home to Burnley and drew in a 3-3 thriller at Queens Park Rangers.

But they would go on to lose against Derby, Norwich, Stoke and Sheffield Wednesday.

Albion then did spark into life, with a narrow home win against Derby County and a draw at Barnsley, before putting five without reply past Coventry and drawing with Coventry just before Christmas.

From those first 12 games in charge, Albion picked up just 15 points, very similar to what Mowbray has done during this current spell.

Similarities

That run of results shows similarities to his first spell.

Not in terms of the actual pattern of results, but the points return. It was a little bit of a slow burner.

The circumstances are different and the squads are different, but after that run of five defeats in seven early in his first spell, Albion hit their straps.

Albion would go on to lose just one of their next 15 games, drawing just four times during that period.
