Their incredible form continued as Harriers bagged their seventh win in eight to leapfrog the hosts into second, two points behind National League North leaders Scunthorpe and two ahead of Brackley.

Ashley Hemmings headed home a David Worrall cross, five minutes in, to take the lead and leave Harriers with the division’s most wins, most goals scored and highest goal difference ahead of playing midtable Peterborough on Saturday (3pm).

Brown said: “These pressure cooker situations crop up every so often. We’re up against decent opposition, good rivals, teams that are in and around us in the division.

“And it was always going to be about bottle tonight and I thought we showed enough bottle. Not enough quality on the ball, but just enough bottle tonight.

“Put more heads in, put more bodies on the line. People who I’ve been asking to do that all season actually stepping up to the plate now – and at the business end of the season, which is the reason why I'm smiling.

“You win games at places like Brackley – my first time here it's got to be said – but it's a hostile atmosphere, it's a decent pitch, decent surface. They look a good team. They're in and around us in the division.”

Chasetown are through to the Staffordshire County Cup final after defeating Leek Town 2-0.

Jack Langston and Joe Dunne netted first half goals to send the Scholars through, where they will face either Rushall Olympic or Newcastle Town in the final on April 15th (7.45pm).

Darlaston Town also won 2-0, as Kieran Cook scored and Wolves loanee Hayden Carson netted his first for the club against Worcester City.
