The 25-year-old signed from Brighton on loan in 2021, made 31 appearances before his move was made permanent for £900,000.

Since then he has gone on to become a key figure for Albion, with his high energy and passionate performances leading to him becoming a firm fans' favourite at The Hawthorns.

Molumby has been seen whipping up The Hawthorns crowd and at times, playing on the edge, which the Republic of Ireland midfielder believes you don't see a lot of in modern football.

He feels that without those elements to his game he wouldn't be half the player he is - but at the same time states there is more to him than just tough tackling and a high work rate.

The midfielder explained: "It's a very big part of my game, don't get me wrong, I know I can play as well.

"I've probably sold myself short in the past but I know I'm good enough technically.

"We all know my main attributes are my passion, commitment, energy, and those are all things that you need.

"I wouldn't be half the player I am if I didn't have those in my game and, I suppose, if you had everything, you'd be playing in the Champions League, or winning Premier Leagues, World Cups, the lot.

"There's obviously areas of my game that I want to improve on and I'm well aware of what they are and I'm all about trying to build on them in the games to come.

"I guess you don't see the kind of game I like to play a much nowadays.

"Everything is so tactical now and I think sometimes, players just need to be unleashed a little, let go and be a bit mad which is what I do.

"You need all sorts of different players in football and my strengths are my strengths, and likewise with my weaknesses."

Molumby was on the cusp of a two match suspension earlier this month having picked up nine yellow cards. A tenth against Burnley would have led to a ban.

Last summer he was in the headlines, following a bust up with Samu Costa in West Brom's behind closed doors friendly with La Liga side Real Mallorca.

Molumby was fined £16,000 and suspended from five friendly matches for his misconduct, with the midfielder later stating it is 'not something I am proud of'.

But even though, as the midfielder jokingly admits, that his team mates think it is a bit 'mad', he points towards a statistic that shows he can control himself on the pitch.

He added: "I do get a bit of that from the boys to be fair. They know I'm mad but I think, or hope, they see it in a good way.

"They don't see it as a negative, too much of the time anyway, with the way I am which is always a good thing for harmony in the squad.

"People don't realise that I've never been shown a straight red in a competitive game before.

"I've got one through my whole career to date and that's what I have to back up the way I like to play and that's in over 200 games.

"I know how to control myself completely and no one should ever fear that won't be the case."
