A Wildsmith error led to Burnley's first-half equaliser for Zian Flemming in Tuesday night's draw, leading to head coach Mowbray stating goalkeepers can be forgiven for an error.
Mowbray does not believe the 29-year-old has made other big errors, though, despite suggestions he was at fault for goals against Blackburn and Leeds.
Wildsmith will continue between the sticks ahead of Josh Griffiths for Saturday's visit of lowly Hull in the play-off hunting Albion's final match before this month's international break.
The Baggies boss said he would be wary of dropping Wildsmith for Griffiths and the potential of an error from the latter leaving a difficult decision to go back to the former.
Asked if he had a decision to make in goal, Mowbray said: "You can’t change your goalkeeper because a goalie has an error. You either back them or you move them on or move them out.
