Non-league previews: 'I have a group who can handle the pressure' says Brown

Phil Brown is no stranger to promotion and has full faith that his Kidderminster Harriers side has what is takes to add another to his tally.

Harriers sit eight points adrift of National League North leaders Scunthorpe United, but are on the charge, having gone unbeaten in their last four games.

Their winning streak came to an end on Tuesday when they were held by Leamington, but another point on the board means they remain firmly in contention to finish in a play-off place.

Brown boasts promotion success with Hull City and Southend United during his managerial career and has not hidden that he is aiming to lead Kidderminster back to the National League after their relegation in the last campaign.

Sides at the top have fluctuated throughout the season so far in what has been a tightly contested battle for the promotion spots. And, ahead of visiting his birthplace to face South Shields tomorrow, Brown has urged his side to continue their good form to remain in contention for the title.

He said: "I think we have been looking up the table for the majority of the season. We have touched first on a couple of occasions and we know what it feels like that you are there to be shot at, but I think there are a number of teams who have been there and not survived in terms of being hunted.

"I think there seems to be a fear of running away with it.

"We are in a rich vein of form with 10 points from a possible 12 and I am disappointed that we threw two points away, it could have been 12 from 12 going to South Shields on Saturday.

"But, we have got to keep this season alive. What I mean by that is that is that we have to hang on to the tails of whoever is at the top because I feel that if it could go to the end of the season then it is all about pressure and bottle, and I think I have a group of players to handle that."

Elsewhere, strugglers Rushall Olympic sit five points adrift from safety and host Southport. The Pics earned three valuable points midweek, beating play-off contenders Hereford 1-0 at Dales Lane.

Meanwhile, in the Southern Central Premier, Halesowen Town go to Banbury United looking to reclaim top spot and extend their unbeaten run to six league games, and Stourbridge who sit eight points adrift of the play-off places and drew 0-0 with Banbury last Tuesday, welcome Bishop's Stortford.
