The third-placed Clarets have seen an opportunity to make ground on the top two unexpectedly come their way after Leeds lost 1-0 at Portsmouth on Sunday.

Burnley's remarkable campaign has brought just two defeats in the league this season - at Sunderland in August and at Millwall in early November - with no side yet to take three points from Turf Moor.

Tony Mowbray's Albion are the latest to attempt to do so. They must pierce an incredible Burnley backline to claim three points - a defence that has conceded just 10 goals in 36 Championship games.

The freakish defensive record has not been enough for a top two spot as it stands, though, as scoring goals has at times proven problematic with 14 draws for Parker's men. Only the Baggies and Preston, with 16, have more.

Parker said: “Yeah, another tough game on Tuesday against a very well-organised, experienced side.

“They know their way around a football pitch and know their way around this division, so we'll prep now and recover and full focus on Tuesday now in terms of us trying to get another three points and keep rolling really.

Parker brushed aside any promotion talk and insisted the focus was on the next challenge after Saturday's dominant 4-0 home win over 10-man strugglers Luton.

“I think I always say I'm not really focused on that," added the former Fulham and Bournemouth promotion-winning boss. "There's 10 games left of this season and we need to keep pushing, keep putting the foot down on the pedal really and see where it gets us at the end.

“So, there's a couple of ways of getting out of this division. One is two places on automatic, the other place is a play-off. Our aim is to try and do it, obviously, automatically."

The Clarets, eyeing an immediate Premier League return after last season's relegation, are without several first-team squad due to injury, including Jordan Beyer, Bashir Humphreys, Jonjo Shelvey, Aaron Ramsey, Enock Agyei and Mike Tresor.
