The Baggies are still nursing three longer-term injury absentees back to full health in the form of Jed Wallace, Josh Maja and Semi Ajayi, with the trio not expected to play until next month.

Mowbray has other conundrums to tend to heading to Lancashire as Albion bid to get some change out of the meanest defence in English football.

One is experienced defender Kyle Bartley, for whom a busy schedule can prove difficult.

Another is on the discipline front, with midfielder Jayson Molumby worryingly close to a possible two-match suspension at a key period of the campaign.

Here is a run through of Albion's latest availability issues ahead of the Burnley trip.

Darnell Furlong - suspended

The right-back will serve a three-match suspension after Saturday's red card against QPR. Albion appealed the ban on Monday but the Football Association upheld it and rejected claims of wrongful dismissal.

The suspension was not extended and remains three games. A suspension is only extended if the club's appeal was deemed frivolous - as was not in this case.

Jayson Molumby - nearing suspension

Midfielder Molumby has been in good form for his side over the last couple of months but is walking a tightrope while sitting on nine yellow cards.

He picked up his ninth of the Championship campaign with a cynical shirt pull against the Rs.

A tenth booking will mean a two-game ban, though the deadline for that punishment is after the game at Burnley. So Molumby only has to keep out of trouble at Turf Moor. Mowbray also referenced how the Irishman and Isaac Price had both clocked up around 15 kilometres against QPR, so the head coach may think about a breather with both factors in mind.

Kyle Bartley - fitness

Experienced centre-back Bartley does not often play all three games of a three-match week, though Albion's hand could be forced somewhat here.

The Baggies closely monitor the influential 33-year-old's long-standing knee issue, which required minor surgery at the beginning of the year.

With Darnell Furlong suspended and Mason Holgate drafted into right-back, Mowbray's options are more limited for centre-half rotation. At a tough test like Burnley, there feels perhaps a stronger likelihood Bartley may be offered a breather at home to Hull on Saturday.

Jed Wallace - calf

The club captain has been injured since he tweaked his calf muscle in the second half at his former club Millwall last month. Wallace will not make a return until after the upcoming international break.

Josh Maja - ankle

The top scorer's absence has been felt. Maja has not played since early January and was last week spotted with a protective boot at the club's training ground. Mowbray has said, like Wallace and Ajayi, Maja is not yet on the grass doing like running in his recovery work.

The club estimated a potential return of late March with the 'lower leg' issue, which required surgery. Mowbray has said Maja is hoped to play a role before the end of the season.

Semi Ajayi - hamstring

Ajayi played just one full game, at Millwall, before breaking down with another hamstring injury in the next fixture against Oxford.

The Nigerian will miss international duty with his nation and is another who hopes to return to fitness in April. His cover would have been important in the period of Furlong's suspension.
