The right-back had not scored since the final day of the regular Championship season last term before his headed equaliser at Elland Road, a first goal in 38 appearances.

It was something of a drought for the experienced Albion stalwart, 29, who bagged five goals last season and has 11 for the club. Furlong might have been a two-goal match-winning hero but he sent a diving header over the top in the second half.

Head coach Mowbray revealed work will continue on trying to work Furlong into better positions to add to his tally. The full-back has a fine leap and his boss believes he should get on the end of more back-post crosses.
