Joel Cotterill scored the only goal for the Robins just before the hour-mark to condemn Walsall to their first home league defeat since October 1.
Walsall managed just two shots on target across the 90, with Jamie Jellis and Albert Adomah coming closest after forcing saves from Connor Ripley in either half.
It was a game which was largely bereft of quality and Sadler felt the difference was that Swindon capitalised on their chances, whereas Walsall didn't.
He said: "It was a tough game. They set-up in the way that they wanted to do things, they left the one up front and dropped the rest of the team in while we were trying to build.
"And I don't think if we're being honest with ourselves today, we didn't have that way about us to break that down. Ironically, I thought their goal comes when we're on top in the game and starting to find some of the places we like to pick the ball up in.
