The Whites are 16 games unbeaten in the Championship and boast a seven-point margin to third place as they eye an automatic Premier League return.

They dispatched of second-placed Sheffield United 3-1 at Bramall Lane on Monday night.

Albion have fared well against Leeds in recent years with Carlos Corberan at the helm, where the Baggies have frustrated the West Yorkshire side. Mowbray, though, stressed his side should not be content with sitting in and hoping for a clean sheet to claim a point.

"I don't have any fears that they are not going to stand up to what's in front of them," Mowbray said.

"When you go to the top teams you need a bit of fortune to go your way, potentially some decisions, but I think we can go there and be very competitive."

The head coach added:  "I say to my staff if we were Liverpool or Arsenal or Manchester City going to Leeds would we be having any fear? No, they would dominate the game and potentially win.

"I feel as if we have to have the confidence to go there and take them on. We're not going there to defend with everyone behind the ball all game.

"Now if they push you back because of their quality and talent and you have to defend with everybody then you have to do that.

"But our intention is to go to Leeds and play on the front foot, be aggressive and see if we can wrestle some of the game away from them."

Albion are boosted defensively by the return of ex-Leeds man Kyle Bartley from suspension.

The visitors boast Adam Armstrong in their attack. The Southampton frontman scored a Wembley play-off final winner, one of four goals against the Whites next term.

"How can we stop them? A lot of teams have tried this year and not many have succeeded. They've got a lot of threats, (Manor) Solomon and Dan James, who is probably playing his best football," added Albion's boss.

"All over the pitch they have good players, They attack from everywhere, they are difficult to get off your back and the stadium is generally a cauldron of noise. They push them on. It's a game we're looking forward to, to enjoy the environment and show them we are a decent team."
