The U's are now winless in six but still boast an eight-point buffer to the drop zone, but victory lifted Tony Mowbray's men two places into fifth.

Albion correspondent Lewis Cox rates the performances of the home players.

Joe Wildsmith

Zero shots on target from Oxford meant the goalkeeper was not overly stretched, but everything he did in the air and with the ball was done well to little fuss.

Accomplished 6

Darnell Furlong

Steady performance from the right-back and a step forward after a couple of indifferent displays. Supportive down right flank and spurned half-decent chance. Defended OK.

Steady 6

Semi Ajayi

A first home start since his return the previous weekend. Was solid enough and looked comfortable for 39 minutes before pulling up off the ball with hamstring issue.

Shame 6

Torbjorn Heggem

Looked comfortable in defence, admittedly against little threat, and assured in possession. Won several headers. Was closer to his form from earlier in season.
