'We have got to stay together as brothers' says Lye boss Ball ahead of relegation six pointer
Boss Richard Ball has urged his Lye Town side to be together and "fight for each other" ahead of their huge relegation clash with Rugby Town.
The Flyers sit five points adrift from safety in the Northern One Midlands and visit Rugby of one place above them tomorrow.
Rugby enter the clash in good spirits after ending a winless run of seven league games last weekend.
Meanwhile, Lye were on the end of a 4-0 drubbing from Loughborough Students, and boss Ball hopes the Flyers can respond with a crucial win.
He said: "I was a bit lost for words because everything last Saturday was everything that we haven’t been. Nobody in the ground expected it.
"We go into Saturday knowing exactly what we have got to do. It is a big game for both clubs. We have got three games in hand on Rugby but they are picking up points and we have got to follow.
"We have got to turn the couple of draws that we have had into wins now.
"The lads were gutted last weekend. They are all fighting for the cause, the club has got to stay at step four, and people are writing us off, but we have got to stay together, we are loyal to each other and close-knit.
"I said to them, we have got to stay as brothers and show what is under the badge now, do we want to fight for me, the football club and each other?
"We know what we have got to do on Saturday, we have got 14 cup finals left, and we know that.
"But, if my lads play the way they can play, we will come away with the three points.
"It is a six pointer, people will look at it and think whoever loses will go down, but there is still a lot of points to fight for. It won't decide our season if we don't get the points.
"But, we know the teams around us and we have got to earn our stripes now. There is a fight on our hands and I am going to do everything within my power to make sure that every player and staff member is up for the fight."
Lye have two games-in-hand on Bedworth United who sit outside the drop zone.
The Flyers have won just twice on the road in 14 away league matches this season so far.
Elsewhere, play-off hopefuls Sporting Khalsa welcome Coventry Sphinx. Fifth-placed Khalsa have lost their last two league games which followed a hattrick of wins.
Meanwhile, play-off chasers Darlaston Town welcome Wellingborough Town of one place below them.
In the Northern One West, Hednesford Town and Chasetown continue to battle for the final play-off spots.
The fourth-placed Pitmen go to Bootle while the Scholars entertain Runcorn Linnets.
Elsewhere, Stafford Rangers go to Wythenshawe Town, knowing they would overtake their hosts with a win.
