Former Birmingham boss Rowett succeeded Des Buckingham in December and collected five wins and two draws in his first seven league games, as he was named Championship manager of the month in January.

However, results have dwindled in recent weeks, with Oxford finding the net just once during a five-match winless streak.

On the recent barren run, Rowett told Oxford Mail: "I don't think you can think of an instant solution. If there is an instant solution to scoring tonnes of goals in this division, we'd have certainly found that by now.

"The division is what it is. You've got to work incredibly hard to create opportunities and you've got to take opportunities when you can.

"I think we're the sort of team that is always going to have to find different ways to score goals, i.e. set pieces and defenders chipping in.

"At the end of the day, that's their job to chip in. What becomes more important is when they don't chip in and we're not scoring in forward areas, there becomes a little bit more pressure on the team to find different ways.

“That’s the Championship. I’ve had games where you score lots of goals in a batch of three or four games, and I’ve had three or four games where you don’t score and everyone starts panicking a little bit or finding an issue.

"But really it’s just the ups and downs of the Championship, and you have to navigate it."

Left-back Greg Leigh has been ruled out with a hamstring strain, with former Villa man Joe Bennett poised to replace him, after returning to first team training last month following a long-term ankle injury.
