Simkin, on loan from Championship side Stoke City, has kept 11 clean sheets for the Saddlers in League Two this term.

The 20-year-old has represented the Three Lions since under-18 level and has six caps for the under-20s.

Now, Simkin is hopeful that he'll be on the plane when England travel to Slovakia for the finals in June.

The goalkeeper said: "I want to try and get into the under-21 Euro squad at the end of the season which is a year older than me.

"If I do well enough for the under-20s and here at Walsall then hopefully I can get on the plane to the Euros in the summer."

Simkin is also eying the prospect of silverware in the Under-20 Euro Elite League, with England boasting a two-point lead at the summit ahead of their final two fixtures next month.

England travel to Portugal on March 21, before rounding off their campaign at home to Switzerland three days later.
