Dave Edwards: Wolves missed an opportunity but have positives to take

Liverpool away is always going to be difficult, but I do think it was a bit of a missed opportunity.

The hosts were not as confident as what they have been this season, following the Plymouth game and the Merseyside derby.

It was an opportunity for Wolves, but they were not at their best in the opening 35 minutes. They stood off Liverpool, let them build up and didn't really lay a glove on them.

They weren't clinical enough in that final action when they won the ball back and often the attacks broke down.

The most disappointing thing is that they didn't have to work hard for their goals at all. The two goals were desperately disappointing.

The first one, in particular, was just errors compounded. Pablo Sarabia makes a really sloppy pass when Nelson Semedo's overlapping him. He gives it away, Semedo's out of position and a lot of players are gambling into the box with Wolves open.

Matt Doherty then gets a little bit too tight on Diogo Jota, gets rolled, and then Wolves are in a lot of trouble.

It was fortuitous with how it took a touch off Toti Gomes and bounced perfectly for Luis Diaz, when Jose Sa had committed to coming out but couldn't quite get there.

There were lots of points in that attack which Wolves could have stopped it or made it harder for Liverpool.

Then the second goal was just a long ball over the top. I do think it's a foul on Emmanuel Agbadou when he's nudged, but he should still be able to deal with it.

Sa made the decision to come out and before you know it, we're 2-0 down.
