The former Real Madrid man, signed from PSG late in the January transfer window, came off the bench in the 66th minute of Villa's 2-1 FA Cup victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
He made an instant impact and impressed in the victory - and could be knocking on the door for a potential first start when Villa welcome strugglers Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Asensio's deal from the French club was a straight loan deal until the end of the season - but new details regarding the deal have emerged.
According to reports on Tuesday, there was no option to buy placed into Asensio's deal.
However, both clubs are open to a potential permanent move, should the Spaniard impress during his temporary stay at Villa.
Options are due to be discussed at the end of the season, with any view to making the move a permanent one.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano said on Tuesday: "Aston Villa and PSG did not include a buy option into the loan deal for Marco Asensio.
"But both clubs are open to a potential permanent move in the summer based on performances, to be assessed/discussed in June."
