The 27-year-old, who had dropped out of favour at Manchester United following a public fall out with manager Ruben Amorim, made a loan switch to Villa Park late in the January transfer window.

The England international, who has spent all his career at Old Trafford, has been the subject of much talk since his arrival at Villa Park.

Many have described Rashford's Villa move as a chance to re-ignite his career, after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.

He was introduced as a 66th minute substitute in Villa's 2-1 win over Tottenham in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday - and showed signs of what he can do for Unai Emery's team.

Pundits Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer discussed Rashford's debut on the latest episode of The Rest is Football podcast, following the weekend's FA Cup action.

Match of the Day presenter Lineker believes the move to Villa is the 'little bolt' Rashford needs to re-discover his best form.

And Shearer insists that his Villa loan switch is a 'last chance saloon' for the former England international.

Lineker said: "I thought Rashford looked lively. He had a couple of good runs, a nice little nutmeg was a threat down that left-hand side.

“Hopefully, this is the little bolt that he needs and getting back playing well again, because there’s so much talent in there.”

And former England and Newcastle forward Shearer said: "Again, I said it’s like last chance saloon. He’s been given another opportunity at a football club with the top manager who wants to get the best out of him.

“And it’s up to him now, but he made a good start today when he come on as a substitute. I thought he had a bit about him.”
