The England international took just 57 seconds to set-up Jacob Ramsey for Villa's opener, before pouncing inside the box to clinch the contest just past the hour.

Villa played some lovely free-flowing football, especially in the transition, with Rogers playing an instrumental role with a standout display in the No. 10 role.

And when asked if he feels Villa can go all the way, Rogers responded: "100 per cent. That's what we want to do. We're in the competition to win it, we believe we're good enough to win it.

"We think on our day, we can beat anyone, so the draw doesn't necessarily matter to us. We'll take it as it comes and try to win the game.

"Why not? Why can't we go on now. We compete with the biggest teams in the country so we've got to do it again. In a one-off game, anything can happen. We're setting out to win it for sure."

Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford, who joined the club on loan from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United respectively, were both introduced from the bench midway into the second half.

Asensio, in particular, enjoyed a promising cameo on his debut and set-up another chance for Rogers who ran on to a deft flick from the Spain international before slamming his effort into the side netting.

And Rogers, who was playing in the Championship for Bournemouth when Asensio lifted his third Champions League at Real Madrid in 2022, said both signings have given the squad a "massive buzz".

"It helps with the quality of signings we've brought in this week. They've given everyone a massive lift just the calibre and the quality they possess, and the levels we're trying to reach to and hit," he continued.

"That's massive for us and where we want to go. The squad now is looking strong, hopefully we can get the injured players back.

"I'm a football fan and I was watching these lot long ago in finals and in the Champions League when I was playing in League One.

"Someone that's a football fan like me, it's massive to play with players like that. Just to pick up what I can and doing one-twos with Asensio, I couldn't have imagined that a year ago.

"It's a massive buzz. This week has just been that little bit different and we've been looking forward to this game, we wanted to put on a performance and we did."
