Albion's head coach felt his side were good value for three points against the Owls after they arrived in one of the mot dramatic Hawthorns finales of recent memory.
Midfielder Jayson Molumby turned in smartly at the near post from a corner six minutes into stoppage time after Callum Paterson appeared to nab the visitors a share of the spoils three minutes earlier.
Mowbray thought his much-changed Albion were "dominant" in a first half which finished goalless and it was not until the 74th minute that debutant Adam Armstrong showed his goalscoring prowess with a wonderful finish to break the deadlock. The fifth-placed hosts strengthened their position in the top six with the victory over play-off chasing rivals.
"I think we deserved to win first and foremost," Mowbray said. "The whole first half was pure domination, I think, they had one shot which the keeper saved well.
