‘We haven’t achieved anything yet’ says Rushall boss Sneekes
Whilst he is delighted at their current position, Richard Sneekes insisted that Rushall Olympic are far from safe in the National League North.
The Pics have enjoyed a fantastic run of form, having lost just once in their last seven league games, much to the delight of their new boss Sneekes.
When the West Brom hero took over in late December, Rushall sat bottom of the standings and eight points adrift from safety. But, now they sit outside of the drop zone and unbeaten in their last three league matches ahead of hosting Buxton tomorrow.
“We have got nothing yet,” said Sneekes. “We are on a good run, the players have listened to the game plan each week and bought into everything really well.
“Nobody expected that we would be able to do what we have been. It is pleasing but we haven’t achieved anything yet and that will be the message.
“It counts where we are after 46 games, not after 30. It is a morale boost for everybody for sure, for the owners, the players, the staff and for the fans of course.
“It is great news and shows all of the hard work which we have put in during the past few months, and it has paid off so far, but only so far.
“If we go backwards to where we were then we are not going to stay up.
“It has been really pleasing the way things have gone, but we have got to maintain it and kick on again.”
During their run, Rushall secured a famous victory over Scunthorpe United and gained ground on those around and above them beating fellow strugglers Farsley Celtic and Leamington.
The Pics were beaten 2-0 by Buxton in September last year and Sneekes is hoping for a better time out against the play-off chasers tomorrow.
“We played them earlier in the season and didn’t perform there. They come into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Chorley so I am sure that they want to get back on track and towards the play-off places.
“It will be a very tough game, we have played first, fourth, and fifth in the last seven games, and we go to Chester who are seventh next weekend.
“We have had a tough run, but the players have risen to the occasion and hopefully they do it again on Saturday.
“There will be some twists and turns and some hiccups along the way, but as long as we give it our all, which we are doing, then I won’t have any complaints.”
Meanwhile, fourth-placed Kidderminster Harriers will look to get over their FA Trophy heartbreak from last weekend welcoming Chorley of seventh place. Harriers sit eight points adrift from leaders Chester but with three games in hand.
Elsewhere, in the Southern Central Premier, fourth-placed and title contenders Halesowen Town visit Spalding United. The Yeltz sit two points adrift from leaders AFC Telford United.
And, Stourbridge who sit five points from the play-offs will search for their third win in a row at Biggleswade Town.
