There is no way Saturday could have gone any better for Wolves.

I have been saying for some time how important this run of games is for Vitor Pereira's team.

It has been very very tough, and if they did not get anything from those fixtures the pressure that builds going into the so-called easy games is incredible.

It keeps the momentum moving forward, it stops that losing run and they get their first clean sheet in some time - it was a job well done.

With Ipswich and Leicester both losing as well, it was a fantastic weekend.

Although they are not by any means safe, I feel it has given them a huge upper hand going into the rest of the season.

I did feel that after the Champions League exertions in midweek, which would have left them riding so high, it was a good time to play Unai Emery's team.

There was so much emotion around that Celtic game, and for them to qualify in that top-eight alongside all the noise about Jhon Duran and Ollie Watkins, they were off-colour, and they did look tired.

You cannot take anything away from Wolves, it was the way they approached it, there was so much more intensity in their play.

That has been missing in the last couple of games under Pereira, which is what we saw in abundance when he first arrived.

In that first 45 minutes they were just physically too much for Villa. They created chance after chance and the concern at the break was the fact they only led by one goal.

They should have been out of sight, and those missed chances meant that Villa were still in the game.

It is always nice for a player who has been under pressure from fans to be the one who has that moment.

It was Jean-Ricner Bellegarde on Saturday. He has come on in wide areas under Pereira, but in the last few games he has been used more centrally, and he has pushed ahead of Tommy Doyle in the pecking order.

In the absence of Joao Gomes he was brought in, and you have got to remember how strong Wolves have been in that department, and that has meant his chances have been few and far between.

I liken it to myself in some aspects. I was a central midfielder, who quite often in my career, played on the wing.

I was not a natural wide man, and I felt a lot of pressure to play like a wide man and make things happen even though it was not my game.

I was delighted for him as it cannot have been easy. He caught Emi Martinez out at his front post.

With Gomes coming back, maybe we will not see him as a regular, but even still, he has shown how valuable he can be.

He has played his part this season, and it is good for him to have this moment.

A successful weekend was topped off with Matheus Cunha scoring that fantastic added time goal, and then for the news that he has signed a new contract.

That is huge for the football club knowing that he is going to be at Molineux until the end of the season - at the very least.

He could play for any team in the Premier League - he is that good.

The goal and his new contract will give everyone a huge lift. Both the win and the fact Cunha is staying put means Wolves' chances of survival were given a huge boost.
