The Championship's bottom side welcome Tony Mowbray's Baggies to Home Park for Saturday's lunchtime kick-off.

The Pilgrims are now under the guidance of Austrian Miron Muslic, who took over at the Devon club earlier this month. The former Cercle Brugge boss Muslic, 42, took over from Wayne Rooney, who left the club in December.

Plymouth are in the market to bolster their backline ahead of Monday night's transfer deadline given defensive injuries for Brendan Galloway and Kornel Szucs. Argyle also sold Lewis Gibson to Preston this month.

Giant Ukrainian defender Talovierov, who stands at 6ft 5ins, is poised to check into Home Park in a £2million move from Austrian club LASK, which would stand to set a new club record.

Highly-rated Talovierov, 24, was part of his nation's squad for Euro 2024 last summer and has since featured for Ukraine in Nations League action.

The Pilgrims could wrap up the deal in time for the defender to come in for his debut against Mowbray's visitors.

It would be the second eye-catching signing from last season's League One play-off winners following the club-record move to sign Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo, which was in excess of £1m from Elfsborg in Sweden.

Baidoo has already made five appearances for Argyle, including four starts.

Plymouth this month sold talismanic attacker Morgan Whittaker to Middlesbrough for an initial £5m.

Boss Muslic is searching for his first victory in charge after two draws and two defeats, the latest a last-gasp 2-2 draw salvaged in Sunderland last weekend.

The fixture before Muslic took to the helm was an impressive FA Cup upset against Brentford, which the Austrian oversaw in the stands.

The Pilgrims are seven points adrift of safety in the Championship.
