The 21-year-old forward has been sent out on loan six times in recent years - with his latest spell away from Villa Park proving to be his most fruitful to date.

Barry, who had a brief spell at Stockport County last season and helped the club win promotion to League One, returned to Edgeley Park in the summer and bagged 16 goals in 24 games across all competitions.

He was recalled by Villa at the turn of the year ahead of another expected loan move to a club at a higher level.

Since his return to Villa, a host of Championship clubs including Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Leeds and Derby have all been linked with Barry. Scottish giants Celtic were also reportedly considering making a bid to take Barry to Parkhead on a permanent basis.

However, the Villa forward, who signed for the club from Barcelona after coming through West Brom's academy, looks set to join Hull City for the remainder of the season.

According to Hull Live, the Tigers have agreed a deal to sign the highly rated forward ahead of their meeting with Stoke City on Saturday.

Hull, who have endured a difficult season and sit 19th in the Championship, have reportedly been in talks with Villa since the back end of last year, with a view to taking Barry to the MKM Stadium.

Reports have stated that Hull owner Acun Ilicali held talks with Villa co-owner Nassef Sawris over a potential deal, with a medical scheduled for later this week.

It isn't the first time the two clubs have done business in recent years, with Jaden Philogene making a permanent switch to Humberside last summer, before Villa exercised a buy back option and he returned to Villa Park last summer.
