Walsall have Jamie Jellis, Oisin McEntee and Charlie Lakin vying it out for the two advanced midfield slots but have been shaken by injuries to Jack Earing and Birmingham City loanee George Hall in recent weeks.

Both Earing (ankle) and Hall (hamstring) are expected to be out until the end of March at the very least but Sadler is confident Walsall have strong options to cover if they opt not to bring in a new face.

Sadler also stressed that any potential midfield signing will made with the returns of Earing and Hall in mind at the back end of the campaign.

He said: "Maybe. We are quite fortunate. I think Albert (Adomah) could probably play there, Taylor Allen could play there.

"So we've got guys who can switch positions really well. If something comes up that we think is right then maybe that's an area to strengthen, knowing that Jack (Earing) and George (Hall) will be back in 14 games or so time ready for the push.

"But it's a potential one, we'll see."

Earing has been out with an ankle injury since hobbling off in the 89th-minute in the 2-0 win against Newport County in the final game of 2024.

Hall has not featured since Walsall's 1-0 win at local rivals Port Vale in early-December after suffering another hamstring setback the following week.
